Steps for CARM

On the CARM Client Portal homepage, click on “Log in to the CARM Client Portal.”

  1. Choose either option 1, “Continue to Sign-in Partner,” or option 2, “Continue to GC Key.” Option 2 is recommended.

  2. Follow the prompts to sign up for your GC Key, or log in if you already have one.

  3. After signing up for your GC Key, you’ll need to verify your email through multi-step authentication. Enter your email address and the code sent to you. Then, go to the CARM Client Portal.

  4. Read and accept the terms and conditions of use.

  5. Complete your personal profile as required (subscribing to email notifications is recommended).

  6. Register your business.

  7. Input your 9-digit Business Number and RM number, and check the box confirming your authorization to register this business.

  8. Provide the Legal Business Name and Address as requested. If your entries are not accepted, you may need to verify that the legal name and address match what is on file with CBSA, including punctuation.

  9. The CARM Client Portal will prompt you to verify your business by answering two questions. Select two and provide the answers.

  10. After entering the information, review and confirm its accuracy, including:

  • Your Legal Business Name, Address, and Business Number

  • A list or access to your recent CBSA transactions, including total duties and taxes for each

  • The exact amount of your most recent payment to CBSA

  • The exact amount of your latest Statement of Account with CBSA

  1. When logged into the CARM Client Portal, click on “Manage Pending Third Party Requests” from your homepage.

  2. Approve the requests beside the service provider's name.

  3. Choose “All Programs.”

  4. Select “Business Management.”

  5. Keep the bottom box checked so that the Broker/Service Provider can only view what they handle on your behalf, then click next.

  6. Review the details and select Approve.

  7. Repeat this process for all Brokers/Service Providers. If you no longer do business with any of them, you can leave their requests unapproved or decline them.

The CBSA recommends that two individuals from each business register as Business Account Managers (BAM) on the CARM portal.
